Murrisk History Group Meeting Thursday 7th November at 8 p.m Murrisk Village has a tradition of commercial fishing from the 1800’s to the 1960’s. At its peak 7 to 8 trawlers fished from Murrisk along the Connamara Coast to Cleggan in Galway & to Achill & Blacksod in North Mayo. This industry employed upwards of 50 people, fishermen, cartmen, boxmakers, BIM agents, etc. A local Group has been formed in the hope of collating the history of this Fishing history. Anyone with information, stories or photos or anyone with an interest in being involved in this Project would be very welcome.
