Mushroom Warning: Its time for my annual warning about the dangers of dogs eating mushrooms. I received a call Thursday night that one of our former stay and trains had eaten a mushroom earlier in the day and he was now vomiting, had diarrhea. and was drooling excessively (all symptoms of mushroom poisoning) I advised them to immediately get him to an emergency vet clinic since their vet was closed for the evening. The vet was able to help him and hes doing much better today. When it comes to mushrooms I would error on the side of caution and assume the mushroom is toxic. If you see it happen you can induce vomiting using 3% hydrogen peroxide (one teaspoon per 10 lbs. of body weight). I would still recommend a call to your vet for instructions. It wouldnt hurt to save the mushroom if you can gather pieces. Things worked out in this case but mushroom poisoning can be fatal for both dogs and people if its not taken seriously.
