Music News ! Jack White Reunites the Dead Weather During Solo Gig ! Alison Mosshart and Dean Fertita joined the front man onstage in Detroit. Jack White was joined by two special – but familiar – guests during a Wednesday night solo gig in his old hometown of Detroit. As Billboard reports, Whites Dead Weather band mates Alison Mosshart and Dean Fertita came onstage for a surprise take on I Cut Like a Buffalo, a jolting rocker from their debut LP, 2009s Horehound. As shared by a fan, Mosshart and White shared vocal duties as they charged through the songs hard-hitting chorus. After finishing the tune, White picked up his band mate and twirled her around acrobatically. The front man reportedly played another Dead Weather track, Blue Blood Blues, during the encore without Mosshart and Fertita. Back in December, the Dead Weather (which also includes bassist Jack Lawrence) returned with a terrifying new single, Open Up (Thats Enough). The track was mailed out as a seven-inch single as part of the Third Man Records Vault subscription series, with Rough Detective on the B-side. The band plans on recording more two-song sets until 2015, when theyll put out an LP of those singles and album-only tracks. This long-awaited new album, their first since 2010s Sea of Cowards, will be the bands third overall. Last year, White spoke to Rolling Stone about keeping the band alive despite the members various musical projects. Our things pick their place for us. We dont really sit down and pick them, he said. The Kills make a record or Queens of the Stone Age make a record, I make a record, and it all falls into place, you know? We didnt know we were going to do two Dead Weather records in a row. We didnt have any plan at all. We were just going to record a seven-inch, and it keeps going, and we make two albums worth of material. Source: Rolling Stone Magazine
