Musings from an arm chair coach... One of many such coaches this morning. That Nigeria vs Iran (We want to draw) match! Commentaries on the football match here on Facebook between Nigeria and Iran who played impeccable destructive football/soccer have been so interesting. Some Nigerian fans are so disillusioned that they are now reflecting on the glory days of Rashidi Yekini, Ben Iroha, Uche Okechukwu, Samson Siasia, Tijani Babangida, Samuel Okwaraji, Emmanuel Amuneke, Jayjay Okocha, Sunday Oliseh, Kanu Kwankwo, George Finidi, Mutiu Adepoju Headmaster and others. A great generation of Nigerian players, especially that USA 94 squad! Impressive! I prefer to believe that this current one ate fufu before the match and just couldnt move their bodies or use their brains. I am not implying that eating delicious fufu will adversely affect your brain power but from experience, eating fufu does not help you move the way these players needed to! It feels a lot better to me if I think that way. The alternative is just too annoying. 9ja as usual... not a pleasant thought. The coaching crew seem to need a Bonfere Jo like Technical Adviser from Holland or Germany! We should get paid by this team for wasting a part of our lives watching that painful display of magnificent ineptitude by the Slumping Eagles of Nigeria. Actually, both teams set football back one hundred years with that performance! Did anyone use those tactics a hundred years ago even? Ghanas Black Stars lost to a US team that deserved to win but at least they played attacking football! What good is possession football if you havent scored in a match you should win? The Ghanaian goal was artistic. So very well crafted! Not a lucky deflection or mistake by the Keeper which Nigeria would have gladly taken but did not even deserve. Do they have a Bonfere Jo? They dont seem to need one. What about those jerseys? Can I get one... my Ghanaian family? Pretty please? Cote DIvoire let the Drogba effect work its magic! He came on and the goals started appearing! They need to improve real quick though. Cameroon...??? Dominated Lions!!! Do not get me started please! My fufu theory started with them! Werent they and Nigeria one at a time? They could have fooled me! Didnt they look like the same country the way both played? Was I hallucinating? After one dose of that painful display by the Slumping Eagles, it is obvious that the selection of players could have been so much better. What is wrong with Mikel Obi? Pierlo of Italy is at the tail end of his career but what an impact he made on his team! Is Mikel only a defensive midfielder now? Has Chelsea removed any attacking instinct from him? There was no cohesion, foresight or creativity all game long. The same long lob pass most of the time! Ugly! This quote is from a comment on someone elses Facebook page. Michael is a shadow of himself. The Michael I saw against Spain in the confederation cup is gone. What we have now is someone not really interested in all these stuffs anymore. Onazi, gone. Moses, selfish, Amoebi, too heavy for himself, Musa, cant learn to cross a simple ball, Yobo should be home watching this match. The rest are just playing safe. No single person threatening the opponents defense like the legendary JJ Okocha or Kanu. The match was so bad that even Ghanas heroic display couldnt save me from an early night by my standards. That is why Im up so early this morning. Now I am hoping Algeria will make Africa laugh. Even if only for 90 minutes.
