Muslims die younger than other communities: Govt. Report New Delhi, September 24: A report from National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) has revealed that only 22 per cent of Muslims in the country cross the age of 40. This is much below the national average of 27.2 per cent. The NSSO gathered the data during 2009-10. However, the survey also found that majority of Muslims is younger than others. Over 64 per cent of Muslims in the country are under 30, the national average is 57.6 per cent, says the report. It is said that the main reason for majority of Muslims not living beyond 40 is lack of access to healthcare and hazardous conditions at workplace. “A large chunk of the Muslim population is employed in places such as power looms and junk market. Such jobs tend to take a toll on health,” Abdul Shaban, chairperson of Centre for Public Policy Habitat and Human Development, has been quoted by Indian Express. The 40+ Club:- Muslims 22% Hindus 27.7% Christians 32.8 Sikhs 31.5 Under 30 Club:- Muslims 64.1% Hindus 56.8% Christians 51.3% Sikhs 54.5% Urban Muslim males are the worst off, with only 21.7 per cent crossing 40. The national average is 27.7 per cent. In urban areas, 22 per cent of Muslim women cross 40.
