My 2 / 50 Cent - I read the article below. It got me to thinking the following: Are either of these shows the type we want supposedly reflecting the life of African Americans? Drug Dealing / Thug Life. Is this the only roles our African American Actors/Actresses can get in Hollywood or the only ones, you the viewer are interested in watching? Recently, Alpha Kappa Alpha & Delta Sigma Theta and the remainder of the Divine 9 successfully got most of the sponsors of Sorority Sisters to pull their dollars / sponsorship. I would slight facts if I didnt note the real uproar came only when their illustrious organizations were being tarnished. I think there should have been an uproar when African American women generally were portrayed terribly (loud, backstabbing, slutty, insecure, etc.) in shows like Real Housewives, Love & Hip Hop and similar reality shows. I have spoken on this previously, so Ill move on. Outside reality shows....just think about the most popular shows starring African American characters. The all popular Scandal and the recently made popular How To Get Away With Murder. Both feature some of the most powerful women in Hollywood and great actresses. Yet, the roles they play feature two strong women having affairs as a central theme of the show. Really? I couldnt imagine Cicely Tyson in such a role. Name a primetime show where a respected white leading lady is having an affair with a black man at all, yet alone as a essential theme in the show. Dont worry, Ill wait! Bottom line, STOP WATCHING THE BULLSHIZZLE (and supporting their sponsors) ....all of a sudden, the shows you are offered will change. Disregarding what Bill Cosby is accused of, I would take The Cosby Show and A Different World over anything on television today. ***I admit and am proud I have never seen Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, LH&H and only 1/2 an episode of RHOA. #PracticeWhatIPreach - at least I try. https://facebook/topic/Taraji-P-Henson/106030209427364?source=whfrt&position=1&trqid=6101674757877025094
