My 20-year high school reunion is this weekend (something Im pretty sure half of my FB friends are aware of), so in honor of this, apart from playing Pathfinder on Saturday (like D&D, if youre not aware of it), I am contemplating the following film festival this weekend: Pump Up The Volume (quasi-accurate albeit highly dramatic and negative representation of a high school very similar to ours), Reality Bites (a movie that seems more and more accurate about the early 90s in retrospect, even though it was widely derided at the time), The Crow (came out like right at graduation time). Emily Vanessa Newsome-Burt also suggests Heathers. Now, if were going to talk about what I actually *watched* all the time in high school, NO ONE _______S LIKE GASTON.... (ETA: Pump Up The Volume is probably, albeit indirectly, one of the reasons I use the word hegemony a lot in regular conversation.)
