My Bestie & I were talking about my parents, whom have been married for 20 years. For those of you who dont know, my Dad (stepfather) is white. I mentioned to her how race was never talked about in our household, and that in the recent past I just started to seek out knowledge about race. She mentioned that maybe my parents didnt talk about race at home because they had to battle it outside the home (grocery stores, work, etc), which on the surface is understandable. However, I challenged her by saying that that is no excuse. All education is taught in the home first. From a baby learning motor skills to a teenager learning how to survive on their own.
