My Dad... I would like to share a few facts... My dad, Mitchell Gentry has been the manager at Hart Springs for a few years now. Anyone whose been there recently and remembers the way it was before, knows there has been significant improvements made. The boardwalk has been repaired, the dock is back (yay!!), the cosmetic changes are beautiful, and the park is much more disabled accessible. These are facts, not opinion-please go by and visit if you havent been there in a while. Why has it been possible to make these changes now and not in the years prior? Just like everything in life, it costs money. However, what many may not know is that my dad is a licensed contractor, hes also an incredible welder, and has LOTS of experience simply building. So, rather than hiring outside contractors, my dad did it and saved money. Rather than renting equipment, hiring outside help, etc, he did it himself or with the other park employees and... Thats right, saved money- for the park, for the county, for the tax payers. Thats the thing about my dad, his motivation is not for money, its not for his own kudos or glory, its for his fellow man, for his county, for the springs that he loves. And, because my mother,Theresa Gentry, feels the same way- where has she spent the past few years summer holidays? At Hart Springs Park, VOLUNTEERING her time (no, she does not get paid for the time she spends helping out at the park, thats out if the kindness of her own heart). Another fact unknown to many- Hart Springs merchandise and/or food is not ordered and delivered to the park. No, my mom and dad spend their OWN time to go shopping to make sure Hart Springs patrons have supplies, food, and merchandise. For anyone who knows my parents, knows that the information so publicly aired was not complete. Something that has always been taught to me... A lie of omission is still a lie. Just sayin...
