My Dad, Ray Kaattari (or Rubberboots as he was well known as in Sudbury) wrote the history of his home town of Garson, Ontario. Garson is right outside of Sudbury and it is full of Finns. He interviewed all of the old timers and there was much interesting info and pictures about daily life a hundred to 50 years ago regarding general life, schools, jobs, recreation, war time, church, clubs, etc. There lots of info about Finns in Garson too and a map of the local Finnish families. The book is called Voices from the Past: Garson Remembers but it is out of print now. Who knows maybe your library has a copy? It is nice to connect with you all about Finn stuff! Here is a pic my cousin Kari sent me. :) To me it is a great reminder of the strength of our Finnish ancestors and the ties that bind today!
