My Dear Friends, I don’t know how this information escaped - TopicsExpress

My Dear Friends, I don’t know how this information escaped me, but I recently learned that two of my former Options Through Education (OTE) students have, in recent months, made us all proud. I’m sure that in their humility they did not want to to toot their own horn, so allow me to do so on their behalf. The first is Juan Arteaga who, as a result of a brilliant legal career, was appointed by Attorney General Eric Holder as Counsel to Assistant Attorney General at U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division. Secondly, Charles Grandson, who was recently awarded his doctorate in educational leadership at BC, and is now the Deputy Superintendent of Schools in Poughkeepsie, New York, did what most thought impossible during his brief three-year tenure as principal at Commerce High School in Springfield Mass. When he arrived at Commerce, it was one of the poorest performing schools in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. By the time he left- not only were students attending school regularly, and performing well in math, science, English et al, -there was, thanks to his leadership, a one hundred percent acceptance rate among those students who applied to college. I am so happy that I had the honor of being a part of theses gentlemen’s lives during my and their tenure at Boston College. They, like virtually all of the AHANA students that I worked with during my years at Boston College, have made me proud. Congratulations, Juan and Charles. Continue to do great things!
