My Dream Summer Family Jamaica Vacation I have dreamt of it for - TopicsExpress

My Dream Summer Family Jamaica Vacation I have dreamt of it for years, packing up the whole family, and setting out on a six day vacation for “Emancipendence” Five cars, twenty people from seniors to a year old infant. Picture it, we would start in St Catherine and head west on the south coast. First stop at Milk River as we soak in the cool waters to dispel the summer’s heat. I can see the children showing off their swimming prowess while the old folks watch over their every move anxiously. South coast guesthouses are charming and affordable so after a fantastic fish dinner at Little Ochie we would stop at a Southfield guest house for the night. We would set out at first light to Negril making sure to capture the picturesque wonders of Holland Bamboo, Bluefields Beach and grabbing shrimp from Middle Quarters. The bulk of the day’s activity would be at Cool Runnings Water Park. Yes, most of the group are water lovers. Waders to proficient swimmers would be victorious over the Duppy Conqueror water slide. With the dream weekend in swing accommodation in Negril is not easy to get, so we would bed- down in Trelawny for the night. Catch a glimpse of the “new” Falmouth Marina, on the way to Green Grotto Caves and Turtle River Spa and resort. Ohhs and Ahhs are expected as the Brain falls of Turtle River massage away all the stresses and pains of life. How about a guest house in the fabulous Tower Isle St Mary to “rock us away” as we prepare for day four. Somerset Falls’ promises a boat ride to the Hidden Falls and a dive in the chilling aqua waters of Portland. What is a vacation without a chance at getting closer to nature? The Rio Grande Valley between the Blue and John Crow Mountains is the ideal opportunity. The challenge would be to brave the traitorous roads or tracks to the Ambassabeth cabins. But when we get there it would be well worth it to be in the rain forest with the third highest rainfall in the world. Green, lushness as far as the eyes can see and eleven rivers in which to “chill out” and hope to catch janga. Down to the bustling town of Port Antonia we would stop in Moore Town and connect with our Maroon heritage, playing homage to Nanny as we stand a top of Bump Grave. We would check out the Folly Ruins, and light house, seeing Navy and Monkey islands in the weaning light of the setting sun. Day six, as we wrap up our island jaunt, would find us at Reach Falls, but not before stuffing our faces with jerk pork, sausage and chicken in Boston. Driving around the island would take its toll on some so while the less energetic nap on the beach of Innis Bay others play in the surreal blue waters. Sunset comes too soon. So in the twilight we drive through St Thomas briefly participating in the Independence activities of Yallas, ending a dream filled adventure. It was more than just a dream because we did it August 1 - 6, 2013. The Summer Family Vacation of my dreams as came true.
