My Email to Congressman Lamar Smith: First of all I want to thank you for voting against the CRomnibus bill. You represented me well on this issue. It is only due to the ineffective leadership of John Boehner that we find ourselves in the position of passing another continuing resolution to fund the government. The man has had the power of the purse since 2010 and the control of the budget that comes with this power, and he has repeatedly failed to use it. I accept no excuses. It is the job of Congress to develop the federal budget, and that process starts in the House. There is absolutely no reason why we always rush up to the deadline and then have to pass something filled with compromises at the last minute. Fund the government department by department and program by program. Curtail the excesses of the President by refusing to fund his pet programs. Quit playing by the all or nothing rules of Reid and Obama. In short, do the job the American people elected you to do. Because of his consistent dereliction of duty, I urge and encourage you to consider replacing John Boehner with Trey Gowdy. The last election sent a strong mandate to Congress to change business as usual and oppose the excesses of the President. John Boehner has proven repeatedly that he is not up to that task. I think Trey Gowdy is.
