My Geology class has been most informative. Through doing research on Superfunds, I discovered that DGSC was placed on the National Priorities List of the most serious uncontrolled or abandoned waste sites that requires long term remedial action in 1984. It has been reported that the hazardous material did not effect local wells, however, it was not reported as to how much was dumped in a shallow ravine they called Area 50 Landfill. Kind of scary. Unfortunately, contaminants do show up in ground water which in turn can affect drinking water from wells and other water sources. But hey, a little but will not hurt you right. Thank goodness for the EPA!
