My Italian Grandparents were born Catholic as most Italians are. - TopicsExpress

My Italian Grandparents were born Catholic as most Italians are. My Grandfather, Salvatore DeConna switched his religion and founded North Miami Church of God on Northwest 103rd Street, Miami, in 1950. He was an electrician for Florida Power & Light Company and used his own money to buy the building for his church. My Grandmother, Rose Parisi DeConna cooked a big Italian meal in their home each Sunday for the church members to come eat after church. They used their own money. My Grandfather later became an Evangelist and GAVE the church to the people. Do I believe in supporting a church of your choice? Yes. Do I believe in making the one, single pastor rich from money taken from the congregation? ABSOLUTELY NOT! All the televised ministries or over rated preachers are people just like we are. All of us have gifts, whether it be generosity, kindness, public speaking, etc. Am I a member of one church? No. I am a member of ALL. I am a member of ALL that I believe and feel inside of me. I believe the pulpit should be shared with the congregation because all of us, from time to time, have something on our hearts or minds to share, whether it be from God or a quote from a book. It just may have a positive impact on someone that hears it. My Grandparents were very loved, very kind, and very generous. I am so grateful they were in my life. I am very grateful that my Grandfather preached from his heart and not for monetary gain.
