My Last Take On Oscars Trial And Permit Me To Quote A Senior Friend Elnathan John And Here We Go: Dear Nigeria, I hope you are watching South Africa . Even if it is a show, let us learn from it. It is possible to finish a new mehda case in 1 year! It still makes me sad that in 2014 we are wearing these silly, ugly wigs. In many ways, our legal system is still stuck in colonial slavery It is near impossible to make any case in Nigeria of the calibre of Pistorius go that smoothly. We have a lot to learn from SA courts. A lot One problem with our legal system is the contradiction in the law itself. For every Court of Appeal case that says yes, another says no. Our justice system is better today but decades of buying judgments means that corruption is a lawmaker creating precedents which is case law Most delays in our court system are unnecessary, avoidable and diminish whatever justice you get at the end of the day. I remember having a case on the undefended list. The undefended list is the quickest fresh trial. No defence. It took me 6 months plus. Undefended list means there is a liquidated money demand and defendant is not disputing it. Still took me 6 months to get judgment. After I fulfilled requirements The judge still told me: I dont like giving judgements just like that. You think you can just get it... Thankfully that same judge was dismissed this year following a disciplinary action. Most delays in our justice system are deliberate Nigeria Judiciary System is in dire need of Reform. Our South African Brothers have showed us the way and the way things should be done and the lessons should be learn Reform Our Judiciary System And The Time to do that Is now
