My Response from Marco Rubio: (not impressed) Dear Mrs. - TopicsExpress

My Response from Marco Rubio: (not impressed) Dear Mrs. Spears, Thank you for writing to me to express your concerns regarding President Barack Obama. I understand these are important issues and I appreciate hearing your thoughts. As you know, President Obama took office January 21, 2009 and was sworn in for his second term on January 21, 2013. While in office, his administration has presided over rising energy prices, stubbornly high unemployment numbers, and an economy stifled by new and overly burdensome regulations. Furthermore, under President Obama our national debt has surpassed $17 trillion, adding over $6 trillion since he took office. Given the Presidents lack of leadership, I understand and share your frustration with the current administration. Additionally, President Obama has enacted a series of Executive Orders to accomplish his legislative goals. They circumvent Congress and force the implementation of this administrations agenda. Our Constitution makes it clear: there are three branches of government and the legislative power rests with Congress. The Presidents legislative overreach is a problem and I am working to highlight these executive overreaches. I have taken an active role in creating and sponsoring legislation to reduce burdensome regulation, decrease the national debt, and spur economic growth. Most recently, I sponsored the Decrease Spending Now Act S. 379, which will allow unspent taxpayer dollars, currently sitting in federal accounts, to pay down our national debt. This bill will mark an important step forward in saving taxpayer dollars. Not only should we cut spending, but we should rescind money unspent by federal agencies. The American people cannot afford a government that spends money needlessly. Recently, I gave a speech on the Senate floor on President Obamas culture of political intimidation. You can view the floor speech here. Please know I will continue to work with my colleagues in the Senate to hold the President accountable to the American people. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your United States Senator. I appreciate you offering your opinion on this important issue. If I can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Marco Rubio United States Senator
