My Top Ten Songs of 2014 These are the jams that have dominated my play list in the taxi to mutundwe, at that boring wedding, at every single opportunity for me to plug in my headsets and get away. Wish there was room for more. At number 10 I have a Nigerian in Simi with Tiff. This song for me launched this little lady in to my world. Produced by Oscar, the song captured every single one of my emotions. She described what it is for someone to come inna ur life and bliss u up totally, breaking ur every defence and ripping you apart, leaving u open and defenceless and senseless. The fact that she did it on instrumentation that grows from a simple keyboard into an assortment of strings, violins and their cousins made it even more remarkable.u should pay attention to this Ninja. At number 10 I have twenty one pilots with Car radio. If you are a lover of poetry and rock, then this song is for you. These two boys belted out line after line of hallucination and counter hallucination after someone had stolen their car radio. If you have gone a week with out your headsets, then you can relate. They captured just how much people today are hinged on to their music. At number 8 I go down to Mzansi and I pick out Bucie ft Heavy K on a track called Easy to love. House music is on fire down there and DJ Heavy K is doing what Calvin Harris and David Guettar have done to the world. He is making sick afro electric beats. He made this one and got an angel to bless her vocals on it. The result was an impeccable song well delivered. It captured the ease with which the heart chooses a suitor. The heart loves what the heart loves to love. Bucie must have experienced a dozen of orgasims while recording this one. At number 7 I have Jesse Jaggz, another Nigerian with Burning Bush. This year is one where the world stood still and took notice of an art in itself. This boy exudes non stop creativity. Jesse jaggz has spent most of his life creating material for other artists in the chocolate city label. He then decided to do something for himself. The result was jaggz nation. An album that had as much pure hip hop as it had deep reggae. Songs like God on the Mic would make any rapper proud but then the same boy made Burning bush. In this song he captured what goes on in the mind of a constantly imperfect soul. He got together the temptations and confessions of a weed smoker in the most poetic manner possible. He had me having mercy and consideration for those under addiction Bambi. There is power in good music. At number 6 I have a Guy from the Island of Trinidad and Tobago. The country that gave us Dwight Yorke and Nicki Minaj. Bunji Garlin dropped a number called ready fi do road. Pure carnival music. Soul calipso at its best getting married to electro urban. The song captured the pre events of a binge. The things behind the making of a sick party. Breaking free. Letting loose. The song is one that gets wild souls. At number 5 I have Wizkid Ayo with Show you the money. This track was made by Shizzy, the guy who put together Davido z skelewu. Wizkid crooned on this one the best way he knows how. Its a catchyfeely, melodic, jokey jokey easy on the ears kinda tune that had me dancing October, November and beyond. It has a truth however that got me keener on the hunt for the green. Money makes the world go round. If you got it, u can pay the piper. U can call the tune. Another reminder to go hard or go home 2015. At number 4 I ve got CaraCara by an SA hip hop duo in K.O and Kid X. Something great is happening on the SA hip hop scene. Abayaye beezudde. So many sick MCeez in one nation. There z AKA, Reason, Ricky Rick, KO, KidX, Dales, Khuli Khana and all of them are breathing heavily. However this legend and protege collabo got me. Funny thing is the kid got the better of the veteran. Watch out for these two Kanye. At number 3 I have Sia with Chandelier. Polly Kamukama told me this was his sickest song of the year.Polly kamukama is deeper than life musically. But he was telling me something that I knew already. An inspired singer on a spell binding arrangement plus a video of a kind was something that was bound to get me. The little girl that danced the video away launched a career of her own. I have witnessed a couple of Kampala vixens (ladies in terrible heights) pulling 180`s on the panamera bar dancefloor to this song. Its that epic At number 2 I have A pass Killah on Tuli Kubigele. Once in a while an artist will get get on a record and rip it apart line on line, verse on verse and burry it into legend.for ever etched onto peoples memories. Nas did it on hate me now in the 90`s, Eminem did it on loose yourself in the 2000`s. Apass has done it to Tuli kubigere in 2014. This song is a reminder to every hustler working on their hustle to keep nibbling away on the hustle.pretty soon they are gonna be biting large chunks a meat. Loyal. Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and 3other folks. This song was way too good it has three versions. One has Breezy and Weezy featuring an East Coast unknown rapper.the first version. The other version has the duo featuring French Montana, my favourite. The video version has the duo featuring Tyga who did a great job. This song for me tells a much deeper story of what the cash economy in the world has done to real love. Ladies rich in vanity always eat from the man that is most liquid for as long as he remains that liquidated. The sad thing is that z that all men liquidated and not are now fully aware of this state of affairs. And now these gents just aint as loyal as these ......are. Thats my top ten right there. Whats yours?
