My WORDS on Sachin from Last Night to conclude what looked like a never ending debate.... TOPIC : Is he the best player? Are current players better than Sachin? Me: Definitely Not... In todays era and current set of players around him; he might not stand a competitive chance as well. But this era and this current set are a result of his efforts and his performances during the last 24 years. When he made his debut, his Dad had to contribute for his journey; but today BCCI can sponsor world cricket. That change did not come with the 1983 world cup victory but with the RISE of the MASTER BLASTER and his ever growing popularity brought the die-hard fan following within and beyond this country Definitely, a Dhoni and a Kohli or a Rohit are playing better than him today and are the greats of the game today; but the source of inspiration to each one of them has been this man and his cricket along with his approach towards the game. Talent + Consistency + Attitude is a rare combination so it does not demand respect; It deserves it and if there is someone who does not applaud the deserving; I believe the stand taken by the person is incorrect and hence that person does not stand a chance to debate further. END OF DEBATE My personal note - You have served this country and the game of cricket like no one before and it is unlikely that in this life; I may experience any one better than you.. Thanks a lot for living and playing in our era and giving us an opportunity to witness the best the world has seen till date.
