My World Cup (from the cities I visited and the games I watched) - Best Match - Spain v Holland Best Atmosphere - Colombia v Uruguay Best looking (female) fans - USA Most iconic stadium - Maracana Best Day - Oranjeplein, Pelourinho, in the build-up to the Spain v Holland match Best Night - Salvador Fan Fest (opening game) with included a carnival like procession post-game. Best Stadium - all good, Maracana for its history. Best Fan-Party - the Dutch, at Pelourinho, by a mile (before they played Spain) Most stringent security - Getting into The Maracana (about 6/7 security and ticket checks) Best Fan Fest - Copacabana Beach, Rio. Nicest Beach - Ipanema, Rio & Madeiro, Pipa. Most costume-inventive fans - USA. Tidiest fans - Japan, they cleaned up after themselves in Recife. Most Enthusiatic Fans - Japan, Chile. Most Friendly Fans - Too many to mention, but special mentions for Chile, Colombia and Ecuador. Nicest celeb met - Avram Grant ( he was also the only one, but very, very charming. Nice guy). Best Restaurant - Azteka (Mexican food), Ipanema, Rio. Most naff fans - USA. Still trying to grasp the concept of being football fans. Worst Match - Belgium v Russia Worst Chant (ever, not just at this World Cup) - We believe, We will win! (USA). Worst Stadium Location - Arena Pernambuco, Recife. Least Knowledgeable fans - USA. Still learning. Worst team performance - Spain (against Holland). Worst individual performance - Iker Casillas and Gerard Pique (both Spain, against Holland). Most glum fans - Russia, on the train back from the Maracana to Copacabana after losing to Belgium (How can you look so glum heading to Copacabana?) Best Goal - James Rodrigues (Colombia v Uruguay) and Robin Van Persie (Holland v Spain) Best city - Rio de Janeiro Could go on all day. Stopping now!
