My allotment which was made up of completely overgrown hard soil - TopicsExpress

My allotment which was made up of completely overgrown hard soil is now all dug over and planted, except for the part where I have harvested the potatoes. I am about to plant red clover there to dig in as green manure. At the moment you might be able to see: curly kale, black kale, Brussels sprouts, pak choi, cape gooseberries, chillies, parsley, sage (green and purple) rosemary, English bulb chives, Swiss chard, spring onions, beetroot, sweetcorn, French dwarf beans, basil, green lettuce, purple lettuce, purple broccoli and potatoes. The big rectangular brown block is the pile of turfs that I removed before digging over the soil. That will be going back as topsoil when the grass in it has all died. Its good exercise and fun. Were still eating the spuds, garlic and onions that were our first harvest.
