My amazing race to Papua New Guinea is full of colors and it is - TopicsExpress

My amazing race to Papua New Guinea is full of colors and it is indeed a paradise filled with interesting attractions, magnificent natural scenery, and diverse cultural heritage. Some may choose to spend your Papua New Guinea holiday trekking in remote jungle tracks in Goroka or Mount Hagan. Some choose to cruise along the mighty Sepik river, surfing the waves of New Ireland, fishing around the fjords of Tufi, bird watching our world-famous birds of paradise in the Highlands, or diving amongst the coral reef and dolphin in coastline. I feel strongly that Papua New Guinea is a forgotten paradise where one can experience those unique personal adventures which has been rapidly diluted with globalization. The country, however, does not have the most desirable reputation or law and order assurance to attract travellers. I believe this is something that can be rectified, simply by educating people about the country. Negative news about the country should not be generalized to portray the image of the country. Incredibly, there are still an estimated 1,000 different cultural tribes living in remote areas who has never tasted the meaning of civilization. After a visit to a local settlement in Hagan and Goroka, I was saddened by the state of poverty of the settlement. Simple houses constructed out of zinc roof with muddy pavement rule the settlement. There is no provision for water and electricity supply especially when the night falls. People here live simple. Circumstances does not allow them to understand the meaning of pollution and sanitation. Their main source of water supply is from the drain or swamp. However, these people do not let poverty change their attitude towards life. They were so welcoming towards rare white tourist like myself when I visited the settlement. Somehow this place touched me to my core after I talked to many locals and visited Kokopo which is a totally developed small town. It was life being lived as cIose to nature and was even amazed by the fact that there is school of dolphins based in Blanc Bay located just beside Volcanic Mount Tavurvur. Most of the local people from the highlanders were barefooted and walk for hours to reach their destination. I have met many wonderful people along the journey and made my journey enjoyable. If you have the opportunity to visit Papua New Guinea, it is a definite a paradise place you should visit. This amazing race is far from over the colorful culture and tradition.
