My artist is/was Jean-Michel Basquiat. Basquiat was born 12-22-60 in NYC and died of heroin overdose on 8-12-88 at age 27. He was Haitian-American and his medium was graffiti, painting, poetry and music. He dealt in suggestive dichotomies such as wealth vs poverty, integration vs segregation, inner vs outer experiences. From the streets of New York to the walls of the more prominent galleries, Basquiat was catapulted to international fame in his early twenties.
