My awesome friend Michael Tooher is having a staged reading of his newest play, The Undertow, at The Footlights Theater in Falmouth this weekend. Sept 12/13, 7:30pm. Unfortunately I wont be there, as I have performances both evenings- so I thought Id share a poem I wrote for Michael a few years ago as means of celebrating his latest work: Michael Tooher, man of men Much renowned for his pen Through pyrotechnic means he brights And then, faithfully, he writes A tale or two of two or three Or sometimes morbid fantasy Without a cliché or within There is an ending, played to win He doesnt bore or twist the knife Just shows you fun and guns and strife The noble milkman keeps it cold Accepting prizes to his fold Success? Who cares? Hell just get better! Wait for the day he gets the letter Hoisting the globe, only to wreck it He truly is a lot like Beckett!
