My biggest Facebook pet peeve is when someone posts something super cryptic in hopes that everyone will ask whats up when they have no intention of telling us. So my cryptic post would be I miss Chicago and improv. To avoid being a hypocrite, heres the deal: Ive been dealing with a reoccurring spinal injury since the end of July and in September it got so bad I had to come back to Tennessee to seek treatment from my doctor who did my original surgery years ago. So Ive been back here a little over a month doing the therapy thing, getting healthier, watching bad network television, getting awesome family time, and staying with my parents, who are awesome and amazing because Im pretty sure the only kid they want to be taking care of at this age is a grandchild. (Sorry mom and dad, Im a ways off from that, bug Andrea Lane Collins) Anyway, the good news is Im getting better and even if I regress, we have options to fix me with some Robocop type technology. The bad news is I miss you Chicago and the people who make you so great. Health is number one right now but improv is a close second. Let me close this book by saying, no matter what stage or what team youre playing on, no matter what audition you bombed or who got the part you dont think they deserve (they did), just know that youre doing it (Shelly Gossman said this on her final night on the Main Stage and Ive never forgotten it). Youre in the greatest city ever for the thing you love the most. Easy to forget that until youre not doing it anymore. PS - if we talk and you ask, Ill say Im doing better (I am) so tell me about you and what going great for you.
