My birth certificate tells me that I am 52 years old today. But is that really accurate? Maybe Im only 34 years old. Age has never bothered me, but as I get older, I realize that I will have three birthdates in my life. My first birthdate was when my mother actually gave birth to me. The second time I was born was when I was 18 years old. That was my spiritual birth. (“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. John 3:4-6). I still have one more birthday to encounter. I have no idea when this date will be. Most people call it their date of death. A death date seems so final and most people dont celebrate death. I personally feel like if a person has celebrated their spiritual birthday, there is no date of death. The date our flesh dies becomes our Eternal Date of Birth, when age becomes meaningless. I hope this third birthdate is still a ways off in the future, but I thank God for providing a way through his son, Jesus Christ for me to one day celebrate the greatest birthday of all.
