My book is dedicated to fighting self hatred , loving each other - TopicsExpress

My book is dedicated to fighting self hatred , loving each other as brothers and sisters. And addressing tough pressing issues that often get drowned our by reality tv and celebrity gossip. This poetry book is like no other! Black is Beautiful Too They say youre pretty to be a dark skinned girl Or handsome for a black dude Compliments that leave you with a mouthful of blood is how they bless you Flesh wounds not enough damage to kill you But enough to cause a feeling of vulnerability Like spider man free falling off the Eiffel Tower when his webbing malfunctions spidey might just go splatter However none of that would Matter if we were born with Logans healing factor But were not were just mere flesh and bones Those words hurt us in places That well never show We swallow those insults like their nutrients are vital to our growth We put on a smile when we really mean to frown We begin to believe our skin is our sin But in reality its our crown Hold your head up young pharaoh Be loyal to your royalty Tell your sisters shes a queen Say to her your hair is not nappy Its just thick Like the roots of the oldest, wisest tree Tell her that her eyes and nose are fine just as they are Tell her as Beautiful as her smile is Her mouth wasnt made to court It was create to speak boldly before the world and soft wise counsel to her king Her swan like neck a symbol of Gods artistic grace Wasnt made to be subdued by chains Young Pharaoh loose your self from the chains of ignorance Then break in half the bonds that Imprison your queen Console her Take a step back And behold her Tell her theres not a natural resource more precious Then the blood racing through her veins And the untapped Potential That awaits its time within her mind Hear it echo back Take your queen by the hand Lead hear to a mirror And say hear you stand With all the possessions You enter this world with This is you I told you black is beautiful too ------------------------------------ This poem was written after watching a documentary on YouTube where 97% of the young girls questioned chose a white doll over a black one when asked to choose. The majority of those girls citing beauty as the number one determining factor. That moment I decided my daughter and whoever my poetry touches will not grow up in a world that makes them feel ugly or less than anyone else. I want the notion that black girls must changed their natural appearance to mirror what America considers pretty to be eradicated. This is not any normal poetry book, ITS A MOVEMENT many will not buy the book for whatever reasons. Cool! Those who do decide to support this movement will not be anything less than satisfied! *** Book info can be found at the following link amazon/gp/aw/d/1494978415 ***
