My concern is not whether God is on our side: My greatest concern - TopicsExpress

My concern is not whether God is on our side: My greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right. Abraham Lincoln Good morning, the word for today is pray – a communication in writing, speech, movement or symbols to God; to entreat, implore, request. There are many forms of prayer – we use quick “bullet” prayers, formal prayers with others such as the Lord’s Prayer; prayers for thanking; prayers for asking and prayers for resting in God’s presence. Warfare prayers, healing prayers, adoration prayers … the list continues. Jesus taught us how to pray and asks us to pray with him. Often if we don’t know how or what to pray, God’s Holy Spirit helps us to pray, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express (Romans 8:26).” Prayer is coming into the presence of God; the writer of Hebrews assures us, “Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need (4:16).” Isaac Watts, a great hymn writer, wrote “O God, Our Help in Ages Past” in 1719 but the message encourages us today: O God, our help in ages past. Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast. And our eternal home! Beneath the shadow of Thy throne. Still may we dwell secure; Sufficient is Thine arm alone. And our defense is sure. Isaac Watts, 1719 The Apostle Paul was constantly in prayer over those in the churches that he helped establish: “I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power (Ephesians 1:17-19).” Blessing in Christ today – Jesus is constantly praying for us!!
