My cousin, Kyle and his wife Sashas son, Hayden Liam Daniel, has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome or known as HLHS. HLHS is a complex and rare heart defect where the left side of the heart is critically underdeveloped. The left side of the heart cant effectively pump blood to the body, so the right side of the heart must pump blood both to the lungs and to the rest of the body. Soon after a baby with HLHS is born, multiple surgeries are done in a particular order and are needed to increase blood flow to the body and bypass the poorly functioning left side of the heart. These surgeries do not cure HLHS, but helps restore heart function. There is a fundraiser for Hayden where we are selling rubber bracelets for $5.00 that say, Haydens Hope on the front side and in the back it says, Half the Heart Twice the Fight All proceeds will go to Hayden to help my cousin, Kyle and his wife, Sasha with medical expenses..
