My dad was a plumber. I used to work with him on many occasions - TopicsExpress

My dad was a plumber. I used to work with him on many occasions when I was teenager. I have helped him install just a few toilets. I myself have installed just a few toilets in my time. I have traveled to Europe, and visited many historic castles. I have also had the opportunity to visit many historical places here in the United States. All of these places have something in common – they usually feature bathroom says they would have been back in that time. Approximately 20 years ago or so, modern plumbing manufactures begin making a new special toilet. It is lovingly referred to as a chair height toilet. It was made specifically with people for handicaps and older people to make it easier to get up and down off the toilet. The funny thing is, that in these castles and historic places, the out houses and garderobes all shared her unique feature – the spot on what you say that was the same height as the chair. So when the first modern toilet was invented a scant 18 inches off the ground, I really have to wonder how tall the person who invented it was. And then I have to wonder, why, after the invention of the chair height toilet some 20 years ago or so, we havent started using it as a standard. Im not really that old, and Im not disabled, but when my knees are higher then the place upon which my butt sits, its not the easiest thing to get up off of or comfortable sit for very long. Is it just me, or is there a slight disconnect here? Why cant we just start using chair height toilets period?Boggles the mind!
