My daughter has never shown interest in my deer hunting before. Yesterday out of the blue, she asked if she could go with me. Now, I have never steered her one way or another about hunting/fishing as I feel its ones choice. I however, must admit that I was jumping for joy on the inside. So, we load up pink Red Rider BB gun and all, and get to the stand and after what seemed like 347 questions, a pee break, 3 drinks from her thermos and endless fidgeting, all the way across the field, a deer! She immediately gets silent, doesnt move a muscle and grabs her gun. After a short discussion and nerve calming session, she gave ol dad permission to shoot. If I live to be 100, Ill never forget the smile on her face when she saw that deer down. It was priceless. It was just a small buck that had both horns broke off but, I havent been more nervous about missing a deer in many, many years. I hope and pray that this trip sparked a flame in her that will spread like a wildfire.
