My daughters first (and only) phonograph. I got this for her brand - TopicsExpress

My daughters first (and only) phonograph. I got this for her brand new in the box from Kiddie City for Christmas 1990. They sold replacement needle cartridges (all one unit on these) right next to them. These actually used a .7 mil stereo diamond tip cartridge wired for mono. This had the floating cartridge in it. The tone arm didnt move up or down much. Just enough to get it on the record. The floating cartridge was weighted on its own to track stereo & mono records properly. This also was designed that way to prevent kids from pushing down on the tone arm & destroying the record. RCA used the same method in their late 60s & early 70s turntables. This Fisher Price model also had auto shut off. Its still in great condition because she just never really was into it. The previous year, we got her a Fisher Price cassette recorder with a hard wired microphone that could be used as a PA system. She used the PA system often, but was never into playing tapes either. I tried hard to get her into her dads old school analog music playing formats, but it was obvious she was waiting for her first CD player. That happened Christmas 1997.
