My dear Facebook friends, I suppose tis time to come clean, as the saying goes. Over the course of this last year and a half there have been brief references from some of you about the general state of my health. A medical dilemma happened to me last June (2012) which altered the course of my summer and fall, but with the skilled care of wonderful doctors and nurses, and the unswerving support of my dear family and some close friends, I am now about as good as new. (Well, still getting older, so maybe not quite as good as new!) In May, 2012, I was diagnosed with lung cancer with a tennis ball-sized tumor in my left lung. In June I had the whole lung removed with full recovery fairly assured since the tumor had not metastasized. I felt fine and spent the entire summer relaxing (inside, of course....wish I could have been outside by the pool!) and started chemotherapy in August. Truthfully since I technically wasnt fighting cancer, the chemo went fairly well and I was finished by mid-October and told Id be fully quite up to par by last Halloween. (Well enough to dust off my broom was the expression the doctor used!!) Since last October I have continued to heal and have just now had a final CT scan and my last appointment with my oncologist. All is fine!! So, dear friends, that is my story. So many other tales have happened during this time -- some to me and my family, and some to others. but throughout all of this I have continued to enjoy all the news that you all post about yourselves, your families, and the fun pictures. If I tried to list the people to whom I owe the greatest hugs the list would be very long, and I still would leave someone out. However, a great hug goes out to my sister, Jane; my new friend, Lori; my dear friends, Jacki and Shirley, and Frances; and my neighbors Nancy and Cheryl. Most especially love to Emil and Susan and Ryan. All of you have been by my side, even in spirit, every day. Thank you all for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers -- they worked!!!
