My dear People...My Dear Yohos and Perkins, Cachafeiros and Davids, Clausers and Burkes, Wilsons and Reids, Chuckwus and Mohrs, Tippets and McCarthys, Eischens and Disneys and all the rest...Today is my thirty-ninth birthday; I am thirty-nine! I shall not keep you long. First of all, I wanted to tell you that I immensely fond of all of you, and that thirty-nine years is is too short of a time to live among such excellent and admirable friends. I dont know half of you as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve...Secondly, I would like to make an ANNOUNCEMENT. I regret to announce that - though as I said thirty-nine is far too short a time to spend with all of you that does not change an immutable truth the subject of which is contained within the announcement I belabor to announce..and that is... - I R OLD. That is all.
