My father died 4 years ago, he had high blood pressure since he was 23 and I actually had slight symptoms at 21 but it wasnt recognized until i was 28. After almost losing my pilots license, I then set forth to have a healthier life style. A lot of my family on my dads sad also suffered from heart related ailments. I did my research and it seems a lot of people my race suffered from a lot of these issues. I set forth not only to save myself and save my career but set forth to tell everyone the healthier lifestyle gospel, kinda like a plant based Jehovahs Witness. I miss my dad, and I love my new family that Ive met since his death, and is annoy them and others with ways to eat healthier. Like me and many other people my race; we werent always taught the benefits of walking or running, unless we are in some type of athletics, its seems we walk or run when we finally get to the point of obesity or we are very over weight. I was blessed with having these issues early in my life and with the urgency to keep my pilot career afloat. Most people dont have that urgency because they wont lose their jobs with ailments. I joined the national black marathoners and black men run just to show my support and push not only minorities but all people to living a healthier life. Some things are generic; but some things can be avoided or prolonged with a healthier life style, my blood pressure has been on point with out medication. I grew up in an area where it wasnt safe to run nor did we have health concerns until it was too late or a steep uphill battle to get healthy without medications, most people use their medications to just band aid the problem without solving it. Regardless how big boned you think you are, caring a certain amount of fat is dangerous, you may not feel the affects today, but eventually you will. I want everyone to win the game of life.....things dont hit home until it hits you or someone close, dont let that happen to you, make the change now. Save your money on Jordans and spend money on your health, thats priceless.
