My favourite quote from the great & late Carl Sagan. “Science is more than a body of knowledge. It is a way of thinking; a way of skeptically interrogating the universe with a fine understanding of human fallibility. If we are not able to ask skeptical questions, to interrogate those who tell us that something is true, to be skeptical of those in authority, then, we are up for grabs for the next charlatan (political or religious) who comes rambling along.” Take note of the last part, it was as true back then, as it is today. People trust the media too much and do not question what they are told as the truth by their governments or political parties. Its the same when you ask politicians a serious question, they bypass the question and give their opinion of sorts, they never actually give a direct factual answer to the question, unless the question has been approved of first and it suits their agenda to do so.
