My first Book that I will present to the group for review on Christ-Parallels is The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien. I see 3 Christ Figures in it: Frodo Baggins, as Christ the High Priest, the Lamb, who suffers on our behalf and makes a sacrifice for us. Gandalf, as Christ the Prophet, who embodies Christs wisdom, and also has a resurrection. Aragorn, Son of Arathorn, as Christ the King of Kings, who sits on a throne in a City of White. He is the Judge, the Conqueror, the Ruler. He also journeys to the abode of the dead and frees souls from it. Also, Eomer, son of Eoden, reminds me of Eleazar in 1Maccabees ch. 6. I also have this deal in my mind where I picture the Orthodox as the Elves in the Two Towers, coming to help men in the darkest hour {Rome/Protestants.} And as the Rohirrim in Return of the King, coming to help a besieged city of seven hills at its darkest hour {Rome}. I keep thinking Rome will need us, before the end.
