My first day in New Zealand was firstly spent on the Tranzalpine which goes from Christchurch through to Greymouth and being from England you grow up to expect a train journey to be purely there for efficiency so the thought of this train journey didnt really excite me too much, how wrong i was! The Tranzalpine turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip to the country, the scenery was truly awe-inspiring! Though i would advise not to blink to much as youll miss it! You go in and out of tunnels anxious to see what beautiful mountain range youll see next. If you plan on going on this incredible journey make sure your camera is at the ready to capture some of these amazing views!
