My friend Codie dog is 11 years old today. When I saw him, now - TopicsExpress

My friend Codie dog is 11 years old today. When I saw him, now about 9 years ago, ça a été le coup de foudre, at least on my part. He was an untamed anarchist, a handsome thief, and had never been inside the house of a human. He had been chained to a tree, beaten with a whip and nearly starved to death. He was saved from his tormentors by MidAtlantic Samoyed Rescue. He ended up confined in a boarding kennel for months because no one wanted such a wild and unruly thing. He came with me that day and he adopted me soon after. He has unfalteringly been with me wandering the forests of Maryland and Pennsylvania, traveling three days and nights across the county, discovering the Eastern slopes of Colorado, and hiking up the granite trails of Telluride. He chased bunny rabbits, squirrels, songbirds, lizards, geese, ducks, raptors, and even a huge bear. He jumped into icy lakes and wild streams, ran down black diamonds, and climbed up mountains and sandstone boulders. He protected me from unwelcome and welcome visitors. He stole any food item left unattended for more than one second. He met three cats along the way, and made friends with them. He also endeared himself to many human friends. He is always braver, smarter and stronger than I am. He is immediately on to the twinkle in my eye when I am thinking about a hike and ready to go. He is ready to scout the way on adventures with destinations unknown, and covers a distance two or three times of mine on each trail. I can take look at him and know when he is a happy dog. And I never have to tell him how I feel, because he already knows. May you live many more healthy years, my friend. #bestdog # MidAtlantic Samoyed Rescue
