My friend Kevin Rahl from the sixth grade later traded out boats for airplanes as an officer and pilot in the Coast Guard, and then became an airline pilot for Northwest Airlines. A few days after 9-11-01, Northwest tasked him to fly grounded empty Northwest birds out of Reagan International Airport to other fields. He said the newsstands in the empty terminal still had stacks of 9-11-01 morning newspapers sitting in their racks, and that it was errie. He traded up his wings for JetBlue several years ago.
