My friend and mentor, retired newspaperman Jim Nichols, was getting measured up in a photo finish in the widest beard category in the beard competition at Ravenshoe this afternoon. Ravenshoe reckons its the beard capital of Australia and challenges other Australian towns to claim otherwise. A total of 70 beards were parading the main street outside the Hotel Tully Falls (including me). Thats publican Ryan Nasser and Jims wife Bernadette who I have always had a bit of a crush on. Julian Ricci and Margo Nugent might be interested in these pics.
