My friends often complain that I take life too seriously, and maybe I do. But I would rather miss out on the silly things of youth than make decisions Ill live to regret later in my life. I dont want to wake up 10 years from now and find myself unable to account for what I did with my 20s. There must be something tangible, something that I can point to and say: I achieved this in my 20s. I dont want to look back at my 20s and the only thing I can point to is photos of me having a nice time with my friends, or partying up a storm, getting drunk or just lazying around on campus. A decade is a very long time and I refuse to have nothing to show for the decade of my 20s. There must be a significant difference between Malaika at 22 and Malaika at 32. Otherwise Im occupying space and wasting oxygen, and I dont think Steve Biko died for that.
