My granddaddy, Robert Dewey Nunley, when he was in the Navy. He was born in 1898 and the story I remember is that he lied about his age and enlisted in the Navy but I dont know what year. Next is my daddy, Donald Dewey Nunley. He was drafted into the Marines in 1951 right after he and my mother married. I was born in 1953 in North Carolina shortly before he was discharged. My step-father, Bruce Hammonds, served in the Army in 1945 and 1946 during WWII. I think he was scheduled to be sent to Japan but the war ended before that happened. Mother couldnt find a picture of him.
