My grandmother taught me much of this as a child and my patriotic roots were instilled by her every summer (3 mos) of my entire childhood. I still get teary when I see and hear a US flag blowing in the wind from a high flagpole. I also remember learning patriotic songs each year in grade school music classes. Do they do this anymore? Im glad my little grandson was taught patriotic songs and stories and to respect our flag when he was very young at a Christian preschool in Texas. You should hear him belt out Shes a grand ol flag! :) Im hoping to teach him God bless America this summer! Parents and grandparents, teach your kids what our flag represents and teach them to love America and what she stands for. They might not ever learn these things at school now. :( If your kids or grandkids have been taught American patriotic songs and history and a respect for our flag at school, please comment below and tell me if it was a public school or not and in what state, and pass this around! From what Ive heard, public schools dont do that anymore in most places...except perhaps in Texas. Pretty sad.
