My grandparents knew the writers of the song and Ive even met him - TopicsExpress

My grandparents knew the writers of the song and Ive even met him a few times. I remember when he passed, it was a sad time. But George Cory had the last laugh. As they went to sprinkle him into the San Francisco Bay, the wind picked him up and spread him all over the mourners on the ferry. My grandparents shared a little laugh to that effect. I had a dream last night that just made me wake up with the song in my heart and on my mind. In the dream, I was a teenager again working for a music store that was not Musicland (I worked for Musicland when I was a teen. On Union Street.) We still had the bed and breakfast there on Filbert Street. I distinctly remember being really sad because in the dream, I knew that when my grandparents passed that Id never live in the city that they loved so much. I try not to regret things in my passed as who knows where I would be today. But I am a bit sad that I didnt stop and manage the bed and breakfast and take care of my grandmother. I was in Love so I thought, and when she got booted I had to follow and leave the nest. The rest is pretty much history. I dropped out of school for awhile so that I could concentrate on work so my love could continue going to school to finish. But that part of my life is better left in the past where it belongs. Had I stayed in San Francisco, I might never have met the love of my life. But I like to think that I would have met her sooner had I stayed.
