Now heres Matthew...My name is Matthew Kelley, I am a senior in the Plumbing and Heating shop at Upper Cape. I just recently was hired by the Wareham Fire Department as a recruit firefighter and we are doing the Boston Climb For Air fundraiser which helps raise money to find a cure for lung cancer through the American Lung Association. What we as firefighters have to do is go to the John Hancock building in Boston and climb 41 floors in full turn out gear which is almost 60 extra pounds! The reason why we are doing this fundraiser is not only to help raise awareness for lung cancer but one of our firefighters’ mother is suffering from lung cancer and is on the lung transplant list for new lungs so this fundraiser really hits home for us. I have grown up around the WFD with my father being a full time firefighter and now assistant chief, it has always been a passion of mine to be a firefighter and now getting the chance to turn my dream into a reality is an awesome feeling!
