My great-grandfather, Alfred Hill (1854 - 1904) was the gravedigger at Sutton Cemetery from when it opened in 1889 until his death. Heres a photo from the opening of the cemetery, Alfred is at the back on the right and the cemetery superintendent, Mr Herbert Sloper, is at the front. A cottage in Clensham Lane went with the gravediggers job and the other photos are of Alfred and his family c. 1900 outside the cottage.
