...My heart is aching today as I think about what happened at MP High School. The prevalence of guns in society is out of control. At Everett High SchooI, I remember being called to court to testify about a student and a gun on campus. He had it in his car and he had taken it out to possibly use, because of a shoving match. Fortunately, he did not pull the trigger. While at Mercer Island High School, another teacher asked me to go take a gun away from a girl. A student noticed that she had it in her purse and reported it to her teacher. My heart is aching as a teacher that has always wanted what was best for kids. What will happen today is people will watch football games, go shopping, they will talk about it ... gun advocates will claim their rights and I am sure more innocent children will be slaughtered....if not today...then tomorrow. During the aftermath, the parents will bury their children. Tomorrow, there will be MORE talk about it and gun advocates will claim once again about their rights and I am sure MORE innocent children will be slaughtered...if not tomorrow...then today. My heart is aching
