My heart is heavy today with the news of Joe Cockers passing. Joe was a extremely talented and generous, gentile soul with an amazing gift that inspired so many and most certainly taught me volumes in my earlier years. I was asked to join his band in 1988 and we were performing sold out shows all over the world but especially Germany where he was extremely popular, playing Olympic Stadiums…. 20,000 sold out nightly… There were 2 shows we did behind the Iron Curtain, In East Berlin and Dresden, that were particular stand outs, as there were reports of over 150.000 in attendance…..people as far as the eyes could see. Thank you Joe, for having me along for some of your amazing ride. my talented brother……and thank you for forgiving me for choosing the balloon pants and checkered jacket I sometimes wore, to try to keep up with the other wacky ensembles (see video below). I see now that I had a lot to learn about fashion….., yet more importantly, your encouragement and support helped shape the musician that I am still becoming.
