My heart is sad following the tragedy at Doherty this morning. I graduated from Doherty and it breaks my heart knowing that inside the same walls where I grew up, made the best friends I have ever had and still have today and became the person I am, a student felt the need to take their life. Everyone struggles. Everyone has a demon to face. Everyone feels alone and hopeless. But the wonderful thing about the world is that we are not alone. There is always someone willing to help, willing to hold your hand, willing to cry or cuss with you. There is so much more to life...such a shame that a life was lost today. Hug your kids just a little tighter tonight and assure them that they are never alone. Never. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family and to the students of Doherty High School. May memories of happy days fill your hearts and wash away your pain and bring you peace.
